Chesterfield Medieval Market

Step back to the Middle Ages at the Chesterfield Medieval Fun Day on Tuesday 24th July.

Taking place across the town there will be a number of themed stalls in the Market Place, Medieval style entertainment, knights in battle in the grounds of the Crooked Spire and much more.

Head to the Crooked Spire for their open day or see Chesterfield from up high as you take a Tower Tour. Tours take place at 10.15am, 11.15am, 12.15pm, 1.15pm, 2.15pm and 3.15pm. Adults £6 and Children £4.

Outside the Church the Thomas Stanley Retinue invite you to their medieval encampment with a living history display 10am to 4pm. See knights in battle at 12.30pm and 2.30pm and troop marches from the Church to the Market at 11am and 1.30pm. The fun continues in Rykneld Square with the ever popular Court Jester who will entertain the crowds outside the Visitor Information Centre at 11.30am, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.

Be brave and step forth to meet the Dragon accompanied by a Knight. Find them near the Market Hall at 11.30am – 12noon, 1pm – 1.30pm and 2pm – 2.30pm.

You’re bound to laugh at the Medieval Beggars as they wander around town causing mischief. Track them down and grab them for a selfie. Appearing 11am – 11.45am, 12.45pm to 1.30pm and 2pm – 2.45pm

Hear tales from long ago from The Legend of Castle Theobald Puppet Theatre on Burlington Street (opposite Gregg’s) at 10.30am – 11am, 12.30pm – 1pm and 2.30pm – 3pm.

See the Medieval Monks as they read their illuminated manuscripts and present a feast of fools on the Market Place at 11am- 11.45am, 12.45pm – 1.30pm and 2pm – 2.45pm.

Visit Chesterfield Museum and meet Sir Cuss the potion maker for his Tricks and Tonics show, he will help you identify dragons and make potions to protect you from the dragon. 10am – 4pm.
