Spire Radio’s own Dino Bedrocker reformed long time band “Dino And The Bedrockers” for a very special gig recently.
The rock n roll group got back together after years’ apart, for a one night only music event in memory of former band member Mike Strafford; who was recently, tragically killed in a car accident.
The host of the 50s/60s Shindig, Dino, along with band mates, chose to raise money at the event and donate it to Mike’s family. After talking to Mike’s family, it was then decided that the money will be donated to a Charity that would benefit from the donation.
Fairplay in Chesterfield was the chosen charity; the band decided that ‘Fairplay’ would be a great place for the donation, as the charity focuses on musical activities for children and young adults.
Elaine Pauk who is the Children & Family Co-ordinator and Megan Howitt who is the Big Music Intern, both explained that the donation will help buy a Synthesiser for the centre. They explained that “the Synthesiser would be used to learn new sounds and to help the children and adults to communicate, as well as it’s gadgets for all to enjoy”.
‘Fairplay’ are very grateful for the donation and the benefits it will bring.
